Assistant Tutors: Job Vacancy
Job Summary: Supporting a lead tutor to deliver music workshops. These workshops are aimed at all ages, and will come together to form an exciting and collaborative music collective with a strong creative partnership with Edinburgh Jazz and Blues festival.
Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival are working in association with Tinderbox Collective to start a new community music group for the South West of Edinburgh. Open to people of all ages and levels of capability, the main aim is to have fun and make music. Led by Mike Kearney of The Katet and Tinderbox orchestra, the activities in the sessions will be informed by the interests of the group’s members who come along, and culminating in a big summer performance each year. We are planning to have participants from all corners of the community, with a diverse range of ages, backgrounds and needs, so we are seeking assistant tutors to help us deliver these weekly workshops.
The post holder will be responsible for supporting Lead Tutors in the delivery of music workshops with community groups. This may involve leading subgroups or sectional practices, providing some one-to-one support within the group, supporting young people who may be disengaged with the activities, and generally encouraging all participants to become fully involved.
Sessions take place on Monday nights from 7pm to 9pm at the St Bride’s Centre (10 Orwell Terrace, Edinburgh, EH11 2DZ), starting from the 21st January.

- 9 sessions Monday 6:30-9:30pm (20 Jan – mid-Mar)
