We'd like to get the LPs

Edinburgh Jazz And Blues Festival reaches a long playing record this year. The longest running Jazz Festival in the UK is 33.

There are plenty of concerts in the programme from the LP age, and music from shellac to download too!

Amongst the great vinyl jazz music recreated for 2011 is the classic Gil Evans/Miles Davis collaboration, “Miles Ahead” – played on July 25 by the Festival’s own Jazz Orchestra; possibly the best Jazz and Strings record of all time, Stan Getz’ “Focus”, played by saxophone star, Konrad Wiszniewski on the 29th; and music from “Getz/Gilberto”, the bossa nova/jazz hit, played by Mario Caribe on the 24th.

We’re trying to get hold of the original LP’s. Does anyone have a copy of any of these three LP’s they could lend us/sell us? I expect there are a lot of Getz/Gilberto copies around, but has anyone got an original Miles Ahead, with the woman on the boat on the cover?

If you have, please contact me at roger@adjazz.co.uk or on 0131 467 5200

Best wishes,

Roger Spence
