The Mound & Princes Street Gardens image

Set in the heart of Edinburgh with views to the Forth or Edinburgh Castle, The Carnival Parade travels down the Mound and along Princes Street to the West End. Activity also takes place throughout West Princes Street Gardens, including the Ross Theatre.


By Bike

Edinburgh is a cycle-friendly city. At peak times, cyclists can share the buses' green lanes and many junctions have advance cycle stop lines. Racks are available in and around the Princess Street Gardens to park your bike.

By Bus

All City Centre/Princes Street buses normally pass the Princess Street Gardens. For more information visit

By Train

The Scottish National Gallery is a few minutes’ walk from Waverley Station. Take the Waverley Bridge exit, and walk the short distance through Princes Street Gardens.
