Welcome back to the 38ers! 11 Jun 2015

Welcome back to the 38ers! image

This year’s Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival will be the 38th, and of course we’re delighted to be welcoming lots of new faces – but there are also a trio of bands who have been here since the very beginning and played almost every year since!

Violet Milne's Spirits of Rhythm deliver great crescent city jazz sounds that you'll just adore. Check them out when they play the Tron Kirk at 1.30pm on Thu 23 July (book online now)

And, of course, there’s Bill Salmond and his Louisiana Ragtime Band, who appear at the St Andrew Square Spiegeltent on Thursday 23 July at 5.30pm (book online now). Bill and the band will be joined by special guest trumpeter Finlay Milne, for a night reaching all the way to the birth of jazz, when the likes of Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton and King Oliver were thrilling music fans.

Founding Director, Mike Hart fronts a special All-Star band featuring Hamish McGregor and will play classic jazz from the 1920s and 30s. They play the Tron Kirk on Monday 20 July at 5.30pm (book online now).

We’re delighted to welcome back these great musicians!
