A Merry Christmas from GD Jam - starts back in January 2020!
Gorgie Dalry Jam – Christmas Party!
Monday 9th December saw a little celebration, to see off the first year of the GD JAM - Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival's community music big band.
Started in January, the project was designed to open up playing music to the residents of Gorgie/Dalry and wider Edinburgh, offering an open, welcoming space for anyone to come along and play music on a Monday.
We've had nearly 35 sessions, and some excellent concerts - including 2 great concerts for the at the July Jazz & Blues festival Jazz Hub, and a stand-out performance upporting Fergus McCreadie and Matt Carmichael at Gallus, A Scottish Jazz Weekend.
I'm imensly proud of everyone who has come along to participate, perform and get involved - from those who haven't played in 20 years and have been wary of starting again, to those who've never played in a big band or performed on stage - and can't wait to see what 2020 will bring.
Starting again Mid-January 2020 - you can get involved every Monday; just bring an instrument to St Bride's Centre, Dalry, from 7pm each Monday.
A thank you from all at Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival to the St Bride’s Management Group who’ve supported us throughout the year, and everyone who's taught, tutored or volunteered on a Monday. The project is supported by City of Edinburgh Council & Scottish Government via the PLACE programme, and we couldn't manage it without their help & continued support.
