The Scottish Blues Weekend wouldn’t be complete without our ever-popular Blues Afternoon, featuring a solo set from Gus Munro, Jawbone Walk (a new project from Toby Mottershead) and classic blues from the Jensen Interceptors.
From powerful intensity to soulful sensitivity Gus Munro’s singing and song writing are complimented by his imaginative and melodic slide guitar work.
Steel guitar player, singer, and raconteur, Toby Mottershead brings early blues to life. His latest project, Jawbone Walk serves up the spirit of 50’s era Chicago - with a strong shot of Mississippi Hill Country blues and a chaser of gospel. With Ewan Gibson on bass, Luke Cunningham on keys, and Vid Gobac on drums.
Fronted by Gary Martin’s trenchant vocals and harmonica playing, Jensen Interceptors deliver a rocking blues straight out of the Chicago tradition. They tear through a mix of covers by the likes of Slim Harpo, Little Walter, T’Bone Walker and Muddy Waters as well as their own original songs.
The revamped line up features Mike Park on lead guitar, Richard O’Donnell on piano and Hammond organ, Jim Walker on drums and Mike Katz on bass.
