Everyone involved with EJBF mourns the loss of pianist Tom Finlay. A stalwart of EJBF from its early years, he was a member of Mike Hart's Society Syncopators and Fat Sams Band amongst many.

Leading his own bands, he introduced some top names to Edinburgh audiences such as Lillian Boutté and Barbara Morrison. He toured the world playing jazz, accompanied some of the greats including Tony Bennett, and was also an entrepreneur, devoted family man and constant supporter of the jazz scene. Playtime’s residency started in The Outhouse, a pub owned by Tom.

We’ll miss the twinkle in his eyes, his consummate professionalism, his enthusiasm and his love of jazz.
