Join us for a taster workshop and learn some Carnival skills! Discover the Indian art of Bharatnatyam dance, take part in a Latin dance class and learn samba drumming. All abilities welcome - see booking links below.

3.30pm: Ihiyami Dance Group Performance
Dance Ihayami is Scotland’s Indian dance company, founded in 2003 by Priya Shrikumar. The company challenges ideas about Indian classical dance and creates innovative contemporary work, regularly collaborating with different art forms and media. Dance Ihayami’s dance work is rooted in strong classical Indian technique, with an edgy contemporary style. The company’s vision is to enrich the Scottish national repertoire of dance, and engage people of all ages and backgrounds in Indian classical and contemporary dance as audience, artists and participants.

4pm: Indian Dance Workshop
Ihayami Youth Collective is Dance Ihayami’s youth dance group that meets on a weekly basis in Edinburgh. The group gives young dancers the opportunity to improve their Indian classical dance skills, explore ‘fusions’ with other art forms (music, media, dance), learn new moves, be creative and have lots of fun.
The workshop will be led by Dance Ihayami’s young leaders - Himika Gandhi, Maithili Vijayakumar and Pallavi Nair.
